The Elusive Definition

By: Judd Allen, Ph.D

a psychologist and a board member of the National Wellness Institute, did a survey with a number of experts in the wellness field regarding a definition of wellness. He concluded from that survey that there appears to to be a general agreement that:

* Wellness is a conscious, self directed and evolving process of achieving full potential.
* Wellness is multi-dimensional and holistic (encompassing such factors as lifestyle, mental and spiritual well-being and the environment).
* Wellness is positive and affirming.
